Cleveland City Schools is proud to announce the appointment of Dr. Jessica Bigham as the new Principal of Mayfield Elementary School. Dr. Bigham, who previously served as the Assistant Principal of Mayfield Elementary, brings a wealth of experience and a deep commitment to educational excellence to her new role.
Originally from Horn Lake, Mississippi, Dr. Bigham has pursued her passion for education at Lee University, where she earned her Bachelor of Arts in Teaching. She furthered her academic journey by obtaining a Master's degree in Administration and an Ed.S. in Curriculum & Instruction. Demonstrating her dedication to continuous learning and leadership, Dr. Bigham earned her doctorate degree in Educational Leadership from Liberty University.
With 19 years of experience in the field of education, Dr. Bigham has been an integral part of Cleveland City Schools for the past 11 years. She joined the district as an Instructional Facilitator at Mayfield in 2013 and has since made significant contributions to the educational community. Her commitment to excellence was recognized when her doctoral dissertation was awarded Liberty University's Best Qualitative Dissertation in 2019, out of 683 submissions.
Dr. Bigham stated, “I am incredibly honored by the opportunity to continue serving Mayfield Elementary as I transition from Assistant Principal to the role of Principal. I look forward to working collaboratively with the dedicated staff, engaged parents, and, most importantly, the amazing students. Together, we will continue to build a school culture that celebrates diversity, encourages academic excellence, and supports the well-rounded growth and development of all students.”

Beyond her professional achievements, Dr. Bigham has a love for coffee and miniature donkeys and enjoys spending quality time with her family, especially during trips to the beach. Her diverse interests and personal pursuits contribute to her well-rounded perspective and ability to connect with students, parents, and staff.
